There are several ways to take a screenshot on a Mac:

  1. To capture the entire screen:

 

    • Press Command + Shift + 3 on your keyboard. This will save a screenshot of your entire screen to your desktop.

 

  1. To capture a portion of the screen:

 

    • Press Command + Shift + 4 on your keyboard. This will change your cursor to a crosshair, which you can use to select the area of the screen you want to capture. To take the screenshot, release the mouse or trackpad button. The screenshot will be saved to your desktop.

 

  1. To capture a specific window:

 

    • Press Command + Shift + 4 on your keyboard, then press the space bar. This will change your cursor to a camera icon, which you can use to hover over the window you want to capture. The window will be highlighted, and you can click to take the screenshot. The screenshot will be saved to your desktop.

 

  1. To copy the screenshot to the clipboard:

 

    • Add the Control key to any of the above keyboard shortcuts. For example, to capture the entire screen and copy it to the clipboard, press Command + Shift + Control + 3. You can then paste the screenshot into a document or image editor by pressing Command + V.
